The only Nationally Recognised Qualification for the sport of Bowls in England, wholly supported by Bowls England, EIBA Ltd and with contributions from BCGBA and ESMBA. The knowledge gained from this qualification will ensure coaches have developed an understanding of safe, ethical, and effective bowls coaching. It also enables coaches (who are aged over 18) to deliver pre-prepared sessions provided by Coach Bowls.

Event FAQs
Learners must be at least 15 years of age to attend the course however you will not be certified until you are 16 years old.
All above days need to be attended in order to achieve the qualification.
For each of the online modules, please can you ensure that you log on to the course at least 15minutes prior to the start time (once you are on and we have made sure your tech is working you can go and grab a cuppa until we start!) to allow the course to run smoothly.
You will be required to complete some tasks off course in between the days
On the day, please ensure you have available:
· Proof of Identification (such as a photo card driving licence, passport, work ID card) notebook and pen to take notes. (You can request a hard copy of the 1st4Sport qualification resource if needed)
· You will also need to a submit via e mail a suitable passport photo (which will be used for your Coach Bowls membership card) prior to module 2.
Full engagement and participation in the course is essential to achieve the qualification.

The programme will be delivered to achieve qualification learning outcomes. This programme is flexible and may differ during the course but in the broadest outline:
Session 1 online (2.5hrs)– covering roles and responsibilities; Codes of Practice, Coaching Points; Basic Safeguarding; Basic Laws of the sport; Health & Safety; Warm Ups and Cool Downs;
Session 2 online (2.5 hrs)– covering Effective Communication, Equality & Diversity; Planning and Evaluating Bowls Coaching Activities
Practical Day (9am – 5pm – 8hrs Practical Coaching) – covering Delivery Action, Line, Length, Jacks, Warm ups and Cool Downs and lots of on green coaching
Off course practice – at your own club including completing your portfolio and coaching at least 2 sessions in your club
Summative Assessment Day – Practical assessment

Upon completion of all tasks of your qualification, your course tutor will submit your record of achievement to Coach Bowls. Once we receive this, it will enable us to certify you with 1st4Sport Qualifications. Your certificate will be dispatched to you by 1st4Sport Qualifications. Please note, we are unable to request a certificate without a record of achievement. If payment for your qualification is outstanding, your certificate will not be issued until payment has been received. If an organisation/employer/funding agency is paying for your qualification on your behalf, please make them aware of this to not delay your certification. Your certificate will be sent to the address provided on your booking form. If you change addresses and do not inform us upon certification, there will be a £12 charge for a replacement certificate to be sent.
To ensure smooth running of the course and that all course content is covered, please allow sufficient time to arrive / log on to the course ahead of the start time, taking into account any traffic disruptions for practical days. We appreciate that incidents and accidents will occur which may disrupt your journey, however to ensure you and all the other learners achieve a positive learning experience, anyone later than 30 minutes will not be able to complete the qualification. If you are running late, please contact the office on the number above so that we can inform the course tutor(s). If you are experiencing any difficulty and are unable to attend, please contact adam@coachbowls.org informing Coach Bowls of the situation immediately.
Please note our office hours are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. If you are experiencing an issue with your course and your course is taking place during office hours, please contact 07458 301497 so that we can assist you. If your course is taking place on a weekend are you are experiencing an issue, please contact us and leave a message and we will call you back. The out of office hours number will only be available on weekends to deal with course issues only for courses taking place on the same weekend. For all other enquiries, please contact the office during working hours.
If you cancel within 7 days or fail to attend the course without good reason (at the sole discretion of Coach Bowls), the full fee will apply.
If you cancel within 14 days of the qualification then 50% of cost will be returned to you.
